Our small group learning programs & classes for children & teens run Tuesday - Thursday during the school terms.

We also offer workshops, events and seasonal celebrations throughout the year, for adults and the whole family!

ADDITIONAL INFO

Programs may incur additional fees. Most programs incur a resource contribution of $30 per semester is also added to each child’s tuition fees, along with a small levy of $10 per semester, to cover the Village Learning Collectives basic expenses. As well as a contribution to space hire, for our exclusive custom built School Spaces at the Commonplace Vasse farm venue we run the VLC from *fees may be pro-rated for shorter programs

Fees are required to be paid in full immediately upon enrolment via cash payment or direct deposit.
Payment plans via PayThen app are available on request *additional 4% processing fee applies.
Please note, all fees are non-refundable as they are required to secure our educators for the program enrolment period in advance.


Age Groups

Please note that our program age groups are a guide only are not hard and fast.
We take into consideration each child’s individual development, capacity and needs and make our program placements based on a holistic perspective.

Babies & Toddlers 0-4 years

Possums Playgroup
Thursdays 9:30 - 11:30 am

About: Our Possums Playgroup is parent led and run, with a focus on play, connection and creativity in nature.

Each week our parents rotate as parent leaders, leading the morning song circle and a simple activity for all the possums to enjoy.

When: Thursdays 9:30 - 11:30am

Kindergarten + Pre-primary 4-6 years

Kindy + Pre-Primary Program
Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

About: Our Early Years Kindy Classes are facilitated weekly drop & leave sessions with fully qualified, highly experienced and wonderful early years Waldorf-trained Educators Sally & Kate. Our Educators also have diverse backgrounds from international Forest Schools to homeschooling their own children. Sessions focus on exploration, sensory & early learning experiences, physical challenges, nature craft, bushwalking, songs and stories and lots of time for unstructured play.

When: Tues & Thurs 9:30am - 1:30pm
Where: Village Learning, at Commonplace Vasse
Group size: Max 12 children *Min numbers apply
Fees: $800 per semester, per day attending, *Plus some small additional contributions (coop levvy, resource fee & space use contribution)
Families are also required to provide at least 1 session of care-giver help per term to support our educators.

Lower Primary 6-9 years

Lower Primary Program (Approx: Grades 1-3)
Tuesdays 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

About: A holistic and engaging program with experienced and diverse educator Kate Reilly (a homeschooling mother herself, and Waldorf & Mainstream trained Teacher with a diverse educational background). The children will explore a range of subjects together including maths, science, language arts, geography, handwork and arts, in a whole-being centred, creative and interest led way.

When: Tuesday 9:30am - 1.30pm
Where: Village Learning, at Commonplace Vasse
Group size: Max 12 children
Fees: Approx. $800 per semester *Plus some small additional contributions (coop levvy, resource fee & space use contribution)
Families are also required to provide at least 1 session of care-giver help per term to support our educators.

Upper Primary 9-12 years

Rewild Program - 8 - 12 year olds.
(Approx: Grades 3 - 6)

About: Our Rewild Program with Andrew is a meeting place between kids passions and the changing seasons. Utilising his skills in bushcraft, wilderness awareness, creativity and storytelling, combined with his Steiner education training, Andrew provides an engaging atmosphere of exploration and discovery. Specialised in the 8-Shields framework, the program is permeated with core nature-connection routines to cultivate meaningful experiences with each other and nature. Kids can expect to take on fun projects, play exhilarating games, cultivate their skills with knife and fire, find calm in the wind, have courageous conversations, and explore our majestic home on country. Come and join us as we explore our wild belonging.

Creative Discovery Program for 9 - 12 year olds
(Approx: Grades 4-6)

About: Creative Discovery for children aged 9 – 12, is a drop and leave programme in the delightful outdoor Schoolroom at Commonplace Vasse. Run by primary school teacher, Kate Reilly, the programme aims to support homeschooled children and give them a taste of group learning in a fun and creative way.

The programme has it’s roots in STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) but incorporates a wholistic approach, which encourages children to ‘switch’ on their brains, with whole body movement, art and craft, free play, and child led explorations into interest areas.

The Creative Discovery group will run for four and a half hours on Wednesdays from 9:30 until 2pm. Group numbers will be capped at 10. The term 2 programme will run from Wednesday the 7th of April for 8 weeks at a cost of $60 per week. The cost includes all materials and venue hire. Participants are asked to pay for the whole term up front but payment plans are an option.

Adolescents 12-16 years

Adolescent Specialist Classes (12 - 16 year olds)
(Approx grades 7 - 10)

*This program is not currently running. Please get in touch if you are a parent who would like to coordinate a program or if you are an educator who would like to teach a class.

About: Our adolescent classes are taught by specialist teachers in various subject areas, including arts, handwork, math, science, sustainability, geography, geometry, history, philosophy, psychology, Australian indigenous culture & history, and other specialist subjects.

Classes are offered in the morning and / or afternoon and usually run for 1.5 - 2 hours. They are offered as either short learning blocks of several weeks, or as one off experiential classes.

Classical Education Sessions
(Charlotte Mason based)
Primary: 6-12 year olds

Classical Primary Grades (6 - 12 year olds)
Truth, Beauty, Goodness Co-Op.
Wednesday 2pm - 4pm
6 week learning blocks.

About: Primary-aged families following (or wanting to explore) a Charlotte Mason or Classical Education approach will gather in a traditional CMEC style coop on Wednesday. All families have their own TBG songbook, and we cover the common subjects:

  • Singing Games (and dances)

  • Hymns + Folksongs

  • Composer Study

  • Artist Study

  • Recitation - poetry and scripture

A variety of other subjects are often included, such as: Solfege, Foreign Languages (Latin, Italian, German), Folks Dances, Outdoor Geography / Scouting, Nature Study, Handicrafts + Art Instruction, undertaken in a classical Charlotte Mason approach.

Where: Village Learning, at Commonplace Vasse
Group size: 5-10 children (intentional small group atmosphere)
Fees: No fees, aside from your $20/month Education Commons membership fee.

Families are required to be present for the session (or organise care / supervision between the other families) and be responsible for co-coordinating, cleaning and other Parent Help requirements. Membership to the CMEC is encouraged, however there you can have free access to the CMEC Common Subjects Guide, as part of the TBG Co-Op.

Note: Even though this is a parent led program, it is expected that families commit to a whole term for continuity, stability and community of the children.

Adults

Visible Mending + Wet Felting Workshops

Kate Reilly will guide you gently through the basics from choosing your fabric, needles and thread. How to do simple embroidery ostriches and how to choose which method to use for each mend. Ou will learn techniques such as darning, patching, appliqué and sashimi stitching. 

Young children are welcome to come and play while you work. Payment is not required until Week Two, so come and try Week One wit no obligation to continue. 

$30/ session, $300 for the term. 9.30am - 11.30am, Mondays, in The School House.

From Kate: “I'm also available to teach wet felting to Upper Primary (9-12), Adolescents (12+) and/or adults. If anybody is interested, I'll have a look at possible days and times. A 3 hour session would be useful as projects take a while to complete. Please message me with your thoughts. Maybe Monday afternoon / Wednesday morning.”

Parent Education Book Club

In 2025 we will be voyaging through Charlotte Masons six volumes together. We will read one volume over 2 months, beginning in January and finishing in December, and will throughout the year to share and discuss.
